Brentwood District Jazz Festival: Our Middle School, Freshman Center and High School Instrumental Jazz Ensembles performed in an exciting Jazz Festival at the High School.

Registration is now open for the 4-Week Summer Music Program that will begin on Monday, June 24th and run through Friday, July 19th. The program will be held at the High School and will offer classes in band, orchestra, chorus and musical theater to students entering grades 7 through 12 in the fall. Students will be engaged in age-appropriate group rehearsals and instruction with exciting culminating concerts and presentations.
All students will also have the opportunity to participate in the (free) breakfast and lunch program.

At the All County Dinner on June 4th, Alexia Douglas was selected All County in the 100meters and 200 meters and she was selected Most Outstanding Athlete for Spring 2013, an award given to the top five athletes in the County. She set two school records in the 100m and 200m, both records were over 30 years old. Of course, county champion in both. She was MVP at the Bulldog Invitational winning both the 100m and 200m dashes and anchoring the meet record setting 4x100m relay. At the NYSPHSAA State Meet: Alexia Douglas-10TH GRADER 100m: Public School Champion and fifth Federation 200m: Public School Runner up! Imani McGhee-11TH GRADER All County Long Jump tying school record of 18’7” County Co Champ! At State Meet: Long jump: Public School Fifth place and 6th place federation CONGRATULATIONS ALEXIA   AND IMANI

Board of Education Scheduled Meetings

All residents of the Brentwood School District community are advised that the Brentwood Board of Education will be holding their Reorganizational and Business Meeting on Monday, July 1, 2013 at 8 p.m. in the Public Meeting Room of the Anthony F. Felicio Building. It is anticipated that the Board will enter into Executive Session at 6 p.m.

News and Information
The Brentwood Varsity Boy’s and Girl’s track team competed at the Suffolk County Track and Field State Qualifier this week at Port Jefferson High School. There were five student/athletes that were selected all county and 4 of them will be competing this weekend in Middletown at the New York State Track and Field Championships, they are: Boys team -Malik Saninoval 1st place long jump, Tobias Nelson 2nd place 400 meter hurdles. Girls team - Alexia Douglas 1st place 100 meter and 200 meter. In the 200 meters Alexia broke the school record in time of 24.70 the old record 24.8was set in 1983. Imani McGhee tied for 1st place long jump. Other outstanding performances by Brentwood Mohammad Abubakar - 3rd place 400 meters - all county 4 X 400 relay of Tobias Nelson, Dwayne Kidd, Thaddeus Nelson and Mohammed Abubakar - 3rd place O’Brian Joslyn - 5th place shot put Imani McGhee 3nd place triple jump. 4X 100 relays team of Raven Payne, Natasha Almonacy, Imani McGhee and Alexia Douglas placed 3rd 4 X400 relay team of Natasha Almonacy, Imani McGhee, Cassie Gibbons and Alexia Douglas placed 3rd.
